HOME

The Hertfordshire Microlight Club was formed in 1988, and moved to London Colney in 1992. Our flying membership includes the full spectrum of aircraft types, including PPG, Doodlebug, Flexwing and 3-Axis.

Our Hangar/Storage area is in an old claypit, below the level of the runways, providing excellent shelter. We have a small clubhouse and a parking/rigging area at the level of the two intersecting grass runways, which run 05/23 (325m) and 14/32 (265m). Both strips are 30m wide, with clear approaches.

We are located adjacent to M25 J22. As is expected this close to London, our circuit patterns must be strictly observed, since we wish to remain on best terms with our landlord and neighbours.

Visitors are welcome, but PPR is strictly enforced, and we expect good airmanship and a minimum of £250k third-party insurance. Visitors must be qualified on type, or under instruction with PPR. There is no flying training based at London Colney - see the Links page if you are interested in learning to fly, and join our exciting sport!

Please observe our circuit patterns - we operate BMAA and Safetycom frequencies on Open Days, and generally when the members are at the airfield.

We currently have vacancies for flying members.

If you would like to base your flying machine at London Colney, please contact us. Hangarage is limited, but can be discussed.

Sponsored by Hertsmere Borough Council.

We are sad to inform you that Brian Curtis, founder of our club and Lifetime Honorary Chairman, passed away at the end of January 2017.
